Katy Deer

Katy is the owner and head trainer of Land Farm. Originally from Chicago, she began her equestrian career by showing a variety of ponies and horses for several respected trainers. As her career progressed, she had the opportunity to train under some of the industry's top judges, gaining valuable experience and insight.

Among her most influential mentors were Don and Linda Coulter, whose guidance played a pivotal role in shaping her approach to training and horsemanship. Katy remains grateful for their continued support and considers herself fortunate to still be able to seek Linda’s advice when needed. One of the most impactful lessons they taught her is that you are always a student in this industry—no matter your age or experience, there is always something new to learn.

Katy’s training philosophy emphasizes the importance of correct horsemanship in tandem with riding skills. Her goal is to help every student and horse reach their fullest potential and meet their personal goals. She has successfully developed riders from their very first lesson through to the Junior and Amateur-Owner jumper divisions.
